Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and your rights.

Last updated · May 6, 2026

GeoRiddle ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information when you play the daily puzzle, browse the Archive, or share your results.

1. Information We Collect

  • Gameplay data: your guesses, scores, streaks, and timestamps. This is stored locally in your browser by default.
  • Account data (optional): if you choose to sign in, we store your email address and authentication identifier so we can sync progress across devices.
  • Technical data: standard server logs (IP, user agent, referrer) used for security, abuse prevention, and aggregate analytics.

2. How We Use Information

  • Operate the game, persist your progress, and render the Archive.
  • Maintain leaderboards and shareable score cards (only when you opt in to share).
  • Detect abuse, debug issues, and improve puzzle balance.

3. Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share data only with infrastructure providers (hosting, database, analytics) under contract, or when required by law.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use local storage for your preferences (theme, last-played board) and a session cookie for authenticated users. No third-party advertising cookies.

5. Your Rights

You may request access, correction, or deletion of your data at any time by contacting us. You can also clear browser storage to remove all local gameplay data instantly.

6. Children

GeoRiddle is suitable for all ages, but we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

7. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced on the homepage. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
